Bees make that sweet nectar - Honey. Have you been interested in learning more about bees and beekeeping as a hobby or a business? If you are, then plan to attend a Beekeeping 101 class being offered by Calumet County UW-Extension and the Calumet County Master Gardeners in cooperation with the East Central Wisconsin Beekeepers Association. Classes will be held at the Calumet County Courthouse starting on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Class will be from 6:30 to 9:00PM. Class will be in Room 025. Cost of the class will be $15 per person or $25 per couple. A second class will be scheduled the first night of class. The classes are being taught by Hank Miller, recipient of the 2009 Educational Award from the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association in recognition of his mentoring young 4-H beekeepers. Participants will learn about beekeeping equipment, hive management, beekeeping resources and the basics of working with bees and honey production. Resources for ordering bees and equipment will also be discussed. To register for the class or for more information please contact Byron Hacker at 849-4714 or 849-2654 after 6PM.
