Vietnam War veterans should be marking their calendars for the fourth weekend in May for a long-overdue celebration recognizing their service to their country and Calumet VFW Post 3153 wants to give them a hand. The event, LZ Lambeau (Landing Zone Lambeau) welcoming home Wisconsin’s Vietnam Veterans, is scheduled May 20, 21 and 22. Tickets are required for the session’s highlight which is the Welcome Home Ceremony at 7:30 p.m., Saturday evening at historic Lambeau Field. VFW Post 3153 has received a number of tickets for the event which it will distribute free to area Vietnam Veterans, asking only for the $2 handling charge assessed to the post. Regular ticket prices are $10. If you are a Vietnam vet and want to attend please contact either Commander Jerry Ott, 853-3180, or Quartermaster Fred Gebhart, 849-2727. You do not have to be a member of the Post to receive the free tickets. Vietnam service is the only requirement to receive one of the free tickets. The supply is limited to 25 so prompt action is advised. The three-day event opens Thursday, May 20, with the ceremony presenting the Moving Wall which is a replica of the Vietnam War memorial in Washington, D.C. Vets will gather on Friday for the Honor Motorcycle Ride and the highlight ceremony comes at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Lambeau. It is the only event for which tickets are required. All other displays, concerts, exhibits are open to the public at no charge. Please contact Ott or Gebhart for ticket information. More details will be forthcoming. |
