Thomas Roberts was named the 2009 Citizen of the Year by the Chilton Chamber of Commerce. Roberts was a teacher in the Chilton schools for 33 years and was named Teacher of the Year in 1984. His service to the community did not stop at education. Roberts is a charter member of the Chilton Optimist Club and was named Optimist of the Year for 1983-1984, and 2006-2007 along with his wife, Candy. Roberts is also a charter member of the Friends of Ledge Park organization. He has been the president, vice-president, secretary and treasure of this group. Originally from Argonne, Wis., Roberts has been married for 24 years and has six children and 16 grandchildren. He is an avid hunter and a part-time fisherman. He is a charter member of the Winnebago Eastshore Conservation Club and has taught hunter safety courses to over 2,400 students. Robert was instrumental in implementing the “Between the Lakes Youth Trap League” which began in 2003. |
