The Valders Lions Club Picnic and the celebration of the first Ford dealership in Wisconsin will be held at Valders Memorial Park this weekend. A memorial stone will be dedicated to William F. Christel, the first Ford dealer in the state.
Starting out the weekend will be a showing of antique cars, trucks and tractors from Ford's early days. Registration starts at 8 a.m., for those who would like to participate. Tours of Model T and Model A cars kicks off at 9 a.m., and will go on all weekend. There will also be an assembling of a Model T for those in attendance to see. A softball tournament will get underway at 10 a.m., on Saturday and continues through Sunday. Games for the kids start at noon and go until 8 p.m., on Saturday. Happy Schnapps Combo then takes the stage until 11 p.m., with a fireworks show as the sun begins to set. A concessions stand will be open throughout the weekend. There will also be a cake and ice cream social sponsored by the Valders High School Scholarship Committee. |
