The next Summer Reading Kids Program is on Thursday July 9th at 1 p.m. which is our Craft Day sponsored by Suttner Accounting, Inc. Please check your brochures for our programs. The next four are on Thursdays, but every Summer Reading Program is at 1 p.m. The reason we have different days sometimes happens when a performer is at a number of our libraries in the system. We get a reduced cost but often we can not choose the day. The adults are doing a great job in recording their books. We would like you to record on a regular basis which will make it easier for our recorder to keep up. Remember the Summer Reading Program ends on Tuesday September 1st. A list of those who won prizes will be posted September 11th. Our first YA/Adult Program with Monica Nucciarone was excellent. We do have her book if you are interested in checking it out. It is called "Alexander Cartwright". The next YA/Adult Summer Reading Program is Tuesday July 14th at 6:30 p.m. with Melinda Myers. The program is entitled "Well-Loved Wisconsin Garden Plants" sponsored by the Friends of the Chilton Public Library and Master Gardeners of Calumet County. You must have a ticket to attend. The tickets are free and are available at the Chilton Public Library. We are getting close to capacity for this program. Remember we are now open Wednesday evenings until 8 p.m. on a trial basis. So far the counts have been good. The Library Board will evaluate at the end of the Summer if we should continue Wednesday nights next year. We had our Friends of the Library Bakesale/Booksale Fathers Day weekend and it was very successful. We do have an ongoing booksale in our meeting room. Most hardcover books are 50 cents and paperbacks 25 cents. We do take donations. First we try to put the item in our collection, but if we have too many copies the item goes to the booksale. New books at the library are the following: "Beside Every Successful Man A Woman: by Megan Basham, "Trees For All Seasons" by Sean Hogan, "Girls From Ames" by Jeffrey Zaslow, "Cheater" by Nancy Rosenberg, "*8th Confession" by James Patterson, "Rogue of My Own", by Johanna Lindsey, "Martha Stewarts Cupcakes", Country Living Easy Makeovers" by Michelle Keith, "Born To Run a Hidden tribe Superathletes and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen" by Christopher Mcdougall, and "Walk With Me A Vietnam Experience" by Gerald Kurth. If you will be attending Melinda Myers program, she is not bringing her books. We do have copies available at the library now for the basic cost of the book. We can't guarantee that we will have any left the night of her performance. Library Summer Hours: Monday and Wednesday 10 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10 to 6 p.m. No Saturdays or Sundays until after Labor Day |
