Anyone can view articles, email stories to family and friends or share stories on their social networks. Any can also submit stories for the editor to publish. Readers can also take a more active role in their local news by submitting their own stories and calendar events and by commenting on articles on this website. In order to do these activities, readers must become registered users. Here's how to become a registered user: 1. Go to www.chiltontimesjournal.com 2. Underneath the blue heading box there is a section that says "Login or Register to comment on articles" 3. If you are new users, click on "Create an Account" 4. On the registration page, type in your name, username, your email address and password • Your name must be your real, full name. For example, Mark Ignatowski. Fake names or aliases will not be deleted and you will not be allowed to comment or submit news. • Your username can be anything that is easy for you to remember. You will use the username and password to login, however your full name will be displayed when you comment on stories. 5. Click "Register" 6. Go to the email account you provided and open the message from "Chilton Times Journal" 7. Click the link to activate your account. How to Log In: 1. On the www.chiltontimesjournal.com home page, enter your username and password to login in the section that says, "Login or Register to comment on articles" underneath the blue box. 2. You are now logged in as a registered user. How to comment on articles: 1. After logging in, there will be a comment section underneath the articles where you can add comments. 2. In the large rectangular box, type your comment. You have a 1000 character limit. 3. Click send. 4. A message will let you know if your comment has successfully been submitted. The comment will appear following the approval of the website administrator. Inappropriate comments will not be published. How to submit calendar items: 1. On the www.chiltontimesjournal.com home page, enter your username and password to login in the section that says, "Login or Register to comment on articles" underneath the blue box. 2. After logging in, send an email with your username and full name to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it requesting that you be allowed to add events to the calendar. The administrator will add you to the list of users who can submit events. 3. After you have been added to the list, the administrator will let you know that you can submit events on the website. 4. To submit calendar events, click on the calendar link on the top of the page at www.timesjournal.com. 5. Find the date for your event and click on the plus sign that appears in the date box. 6. Fill in the necessary information: • Subject: The title of your event • Category: Select "Calumet County Events" • Activity: A description of your event that readers will see when the click on your event • Location: Where your event is being held • Contact: The name and contact information where readers can find out more about your event. 7. Click the "Calendar" tab underneath the heading that reads, "JEvents Edit Event" and entire the date and time information for your event. If this is a reoccurring event, you may specify this here. 8. Click "Save" to publish your event. 9. Your event will be approved by the administrator and then published on the calendar. |
