The City of Chilton is moving forward with plans to create a new subdivision off of Irish Road, just north of the Wal-Mart Supercenter. The Chilton Plan Commission met on January 13 to discuss the preliminary plat for the area. Under the current proposal, the subdivision will be located west of Irish Rd. and continues from Field Lane. There will be eight lots zoned for two-family residences, one outlot for a storm water detention pond and two larger lots where an assisted living facility is planned. City council members were concerned about who would build and maintain the storm water detention pond. Mayor Tom Reinl said the city hopes to work that issue into a development agreement and sell the outlot with the other eight two-family lots. “The plan of attack is to sell the whole development to a realtor,” Reinl said at the city council meeting on January 19. Part of the reason for creating the detention pond is to make Department of Natural Resources approval easier. The property is close to the 100-year flood plain limits of the Manitowoc River. The city plans to flow storm sewers away from the river and into the detention pond. The city is seeking several easements for storm sewers on adjacent properties. After some discussion regarding the name of the street, the council agreed to call the street Field Lane, instead of Field Court, as the preliminary plat refers to it. To make sure no issues come up with 911 calls, the council and plan commission thought Field Lane would be a better choice. The assisted living facility would have two buildings. One building will be built in 2010, and the other would potentially be constructed in 2011. The city approved the preliminary plat at the meeting. The residential property is located inside the city’s Tax Incremental District No. 2. |
