Wayne Robert Meisenburg, 63, of Calumetville, passed away on Feb. 27th 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born on Sept. 24th, 1946, the son of LeRoy Meisenburg and Eileen (Vondran) Meisenburg in Dubuque, Iowa. He attended Chilton High School.Wayne served in the United States Marine Corp from January 20, 1966 to January 9, 1969. While serving in the U.S. Marine Corp Wayne earned numerous medals. Six months after serving in Viet Nam he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for “outstanding leadership and initiative despite extremely adverse conditions and the difficulties of a combat environment” while serving with the 11th Engineer Battalion. On March 28th, 1970 he married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Schmitz, in Picher, Oklahoma. Wayne was an avid sportsman. He has touched the lives of many people with his sense of humor and his kindness. Survivors include his wife Mary and son, Robert of Calumetville, his brothers & sisters LeRoy (Mary) Meisenburg, Sandra Meisenburg, Rose (Ernie) Oelke, Linda (Dave) Lyons, Mary Kay (Bill) Hinkle, John (Becky) Meisenburg, and Dan Meisenburg, Mother- in -law Mrs. Alfred Schmitz, brothers and sisters -in –law, Fred Schmitz, Karen Mengel, Pat (Sharon) Schmitz, Cynthia Eiring, Michael Schmitz , Angelle (Dave) Onsrud, Barb (Bill) Wasmer, Denise (Jim) Hess, Bernadette (Doug)Campbell, and Anne Schmitz. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law, a brother Jerry and a sister Linda. The memorial service will be held on Saturday March 6th at 12:30, at Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Ave New Holstein. Wayne’s last wish was for his family and all his many friends to join in a celebration of his life which will be held directly after the service at the Elite Hall 2016 Calumet Drive in New Holstein, with food, refreshments and his good old rock n roll music.
