Mary L. Karls, age 57, of Chilton passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at her home.

Karls, Mary (obit)She was born May 20, 1952 in Fond du Lac, daughter of the late Arno & Genevieve (Wrensch) Luchterhand.  She married John Karls on October 6, 1973 at St. Luke Lutheran Church.  During her life, Mary worked at Aluminum Specialty and Chilton Metal Products before taking over her mom’s Watkins and Fuller Brush sales in 1984.  Mary was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where she also had served as the Sunday School Superintendent.  She loved animals and enjoyed to sing, paint pictures, take photographs, and spent as much time as she could out in nature.  Faith and family were very important to Mary.  Her family and friends brought her the most joy; she always enjoyed the time she could spend with family and friends, especially around the dinner table.  Every life she touched, they could feel the love of Jesus Christ through her.  Survivors include her husband: John; 2 children: Kristopher (Tina) Karls of Chilton, Derek (Terri) Karls of Chilton; her mother-in-law: Marie Karls of Chilton; a brother: Arno Luchterhand, Jr. of Hilbert; a sister: Marsha (Tony) Goeser of Chilton; sisters-in-law: Beverly & Diane Luchterhand of Chilton, Rosie (Melvin) Meier of Chilton, Dorothy (Mark) Ward of Naples, FL; brothers-in-law: Daniel (Joyce) Ditter, Jim (Sharon) Karls of Chilton, Lyle (Rosanne) Karls of Chilton; special nieces: Ann (Jerry), Jody (Brian), Melissa (Adam), Amanda (Tommy); and her special friends: Nancy Soliven & Megan Hoffman.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Arno & Genevieve; 2 brothers: Glen & James Luchterhand; a sister: Judy Ditter; and her father-in-law: Michael Karls. 

Funeral service were at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. Luke Lutheran Church (W3120 Killsnake Rd) in Chilton with the Rev. Jim Plackner officiating.  Burial followed in the Parish Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in the name of Mary L. Karls.
