Thomas Leo Miller, of Appleton, formerly of Chilton, died on Friday, July 2, 2010 of an apparent heart attack.
![]() He was born on April 28, 1946, to Clayton & Ione (Kersten) Miller of Chilton. Tom attended St. Mary’s Catholic grade school and graduated from Chilton High School, class of 1964. After graduating from Appleton City School of Cosmetology, he worked at the Fashion Aire Salon in Appleton until the time of his death. On his day off, Tom provided his services to local nursing homes, the Calumet County jail and homes of shut-ins. Every Christmas, he also volunteered at the Moose Lodge in Appleton. For many years, Tom, lived with his aunt, Naomi, helping care for her when she became terminally ill. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, horses, dancing, and was an avid NASCAR fan. The trips he made to Bristol with his brothers will be a cherished memory. Tom is survived by his brothers John (Sidonia) Miller, of Frisco, TX, Jim (Betty) Miller of Chilton, Bob (Jan) Miller of Sherwood, Steve Miller (friend, Suzanne) of Chilton; his sisters, Sue Miller of Eau Claire, Kathy Thomson (friend, Gene) of Gravois Mills, MO, Pat Miller of Chilton; and his godchildren, Danielle (Randy) Marquardt of Neenah and Amy (Russ) Schulte of Baraboo. Tom is further survived by many nieces and nephews, his uncle and godfather, Leo (Mildred) Miller of Chilton, his aunt, Ginny Siegrist of Hortonville, and Tom’s special friends, Bev Newland and Kathy Krug. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Marie, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles, step-nieces and cousins. Tom was a very giving and fun-loving person who always had a joke to tell; Miller family gatherings will never be the same. He will be missed by his many ladies and special people he helped over the years. Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Friday, July 9, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, with the Rev. Kathy Gloff officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
