Gunnery Sgt. Ronald J. Meyer, USMC retired, 74, Green Bay, passed away after a long battle with dementia on June 9, 2011, at a local nursing home. He was born on Oct. 3, 1936 in Chilton to the late Edwin and Colletta (Carroll) Meyer.

Ronald attended St. Augustine Catholic School, Chilton, until his family moved to Milwaukee, where he finished his schooling before joining the U.S. Marine Corps.

He proudly served his country for 20 years in the Marines, retiring as Gunnery Sergeant.

He enjoyed gardening, jogging, polka music and playing the accordion.

Time spent with his family and friends was important to Ronald.

He will be remembered for his good sense of humor, kind heart and generosity.
Survivors include his former wife of 31 years and special friend, Carol Meyer, Green Bay; one son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Mary Meyer, Howard; two daughters and sons-in-law: Pamela and Jake Swenson, West De Pere, and Susan and Scott Hultman, West De Pere; six grandchildren: Jacob, Adam, Quinn, Kade, Alex and Taylor; two step-grandchildren, Josh and Jamie; one brother and sister-in-law: John and Lorraine Meyer, Chilton; brother-in-law: John Orlando; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Orlando.

Interment was in Fort Howard Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.

Ronald's family would like to thank the entire staff of Odd Fellow Home for their loving care and genuine concern for the past six years.
