Armilla L. Wunrow, age 87, of Fremont, passed away at her daughter's home, with both of her daughters at her side. She was born on Nov. 3, 1923, in the Town of Rockland, Wis., the daughter of the late Arnold and Lorena (Dallmann) Behnke. On Feb. 3, 1948, Armilla married Wilbur Wunrow in Reedsville, Wis. Armilla worked at Wunrow's Exchange Grocery Store in Potter, Wis., from 1948 to 1965, before she and Wilbur purchased the business. Together they owned and operated the business from 1965-1986. They then retired to Fremont. Wilbur preceded her in death on March 18, 2000. Armilla was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont, where she served on the Finance Committee. She also was a member of the Wolf River American Legion Auxiliary Post 391. Armilla enjoyed volunteering her time at the Bethesda Thrift Mart. She loved watching sporting events, polka music, spending time with her grandchildren, walking, coffee, popcorn, and watching mystery shows. Armilla is survived by two daughters, Barb (Larry) Marquardt, Weyauwega; and Carol (Tomas) Hartin, Oconto Falls, Wis; three grandchildren, Amanda Marquardt, Spokane, WA; Katie (Ben) Luedke, Pulaski; and Matthew (fiancée, Lindsey) Hartin, Oconto Falls; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol Bubolz, Reedsville, Wis.; Eunice (Fred) Kramer, Vancouver, WA; Lorraine Wunrow, Fond du lac; Phyllis (Rev. Don) Sprengler, Antigo, Wis.; and Bill (Marilyn) Wunrow, Green Bay; her godchildren, Dawn Cass, Mike Behnke, Norma Dallmann and David Kramer; dear friends Arden and Laurel Kirst and Karen A. Looker. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Roman (Olive) Behnke, Eldor (Minerva) Behnke, Dennis Behnke, and Willard "Red" Behnke and a sister, Delores (Clifford) Meier.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope officiated. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont. Visitation was held on Saturday, at the church, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church. Armilla's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Pastor Stephen Pope for his visits and prayers; as well as the Theda Care Hospice nurses, Kari, Marie and Sandy for the wonderful care given to her. |
