Jeanette Frances (Keller) Vanman, age 89, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Homestead Care Center, New Holstein. She was born March 6, 1922, in Chilton.
Jeanette graduated from Chilton High School.

She was a long-time resident of both Missouri Valley, IA and Omaha, NE.
She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and during her years in Missouri Valley she belonged to the Ladies Federated Club and the Ladies American Legion Club, as well as participated in many activities involving St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She joined TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) in 1970 and remained active in that organization until 2006, when she moved to Willowpark Residence, New Holstein. Following a stroke in February she became a resident of Homestead Care Center, New Holstein. Jeanette's favorite pastime was knitting and over the years she presented hundreds of gifts to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, John Gail Vanman, her son John Donald Vanman and son-in-law, James Smith. Significant others who preceded her in death were her parents, John and Pauline Keller, brothers Fred and David Keller and sisters Madelle Notter and Lucille Crittenden.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Bill) Kutmus, West Des Moines, IA, Gail Marie Smith, Albuquerque, NM, and Kathryn (John) Suchy, Omaha, NE; grandchildren Margaret Smith (Rick) Quick, Edmond, OK, Kathleen Smith, Albuquerque, NM and Dennis Suchy, Omaha, NE; and great-grandchildren Daniel, Ellie and Clara Quick, Edmond, OK. Jeanette is also survived by sisters Dorothy Huberty and Frances (Orv) Beckmann of Kiel, sister-in-law Evelyn Keller, Kimberly, and many caring nieces and nephews.

A private burial of cremains will take place at Evergreen Memorial Park, Omaha, NE beside her husband, John Gail Vanman.

Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel is assisting the family.
