Lorraine H. Schaffer, age 93, of Chilton, formerly of Hilbert, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. Daughter of the late Louis & Elsie (Palmbach) Huebner, Lorraine was born in the town of Greenville on September 30, 1918. She became a child of God through her Holy Baptism on October 20, 1918 and Confirmed her Faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville on October 25, 1931. Lorraine was a woman of faith who publicly confessed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was faithful to that promise to the end of her life. On May 29, 1943, she was united in marriage to Matthew M. Schaffer in the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton by Rev. Ziedle. Her union of 45 years was strengthened and blessed by God with 2 daughters and 2 sons.
Mrs. Schaffer was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert where she also belonged to the Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Senior Citizen Club of Hilbert. Lorraine was a graduate of Appleton High School, class of 1936. She attended Bowlby's Business College and graduated in 1938. She worked for Service Bakery and AAL. In 1960, she began working at the Calumet Medical Center, where she remained for 24 years. Lorraine was known for her fabulous cooking and baking. She would frequently make large meals for the many thrashing crews and other farm help who worked with her family and the Saturday morning cinnamon rolls were legendary. Lorraine was a person who was fun to be around and thoroughly enjoyed practical jokes, especially those pulled on April Fool's Day. Above all else, Lorraine looked forward to seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She treasured each and every moment she could spend with all those she loved.
