Third-grade students in Mrs. Clifton's class at Stockbridge Elementary School recently raised $452 towards the relief effort in Haiti. On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 quake hit Haiti, killing thousands and leaving many more people without food, water and shelter. "The fundraiser for Haiti was all the third graders' idea," Mrs. Clifton said. ![]() The students wrote a letter to Principal Marx and presented their idea to him. The students then created posters to promote the fundraisers. To collect the money, students put glass jars in all the classrooms and picked them up at the end of the week. Mr. Thaker, a representative from the American Red Cross, came to the classroom on Monday, March 1, to pick up the money the students collected and answer questions from the students. Mrs. Clifton said she was proud of the students work and thanked everyone: students, parents, grandparents, staff and the Stockbridge Parent-Teacher Organization, for their generosity. |
