Linda Wilke, a Moraine Park Technical College instructor known for her training skills and dedication to helping businesses, was named the 2010 Region III Teacher of the Year by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).
A Moraine Park employee since 1989, Wilke was nominated by the Wisconsin Association for Career and Technical Education (WACTE). She is a member of ACTE, WACTE and MPACTE Local 17. "WACTE is thrilled that Linda has received this recognition," said Margaret Ellibee, PhD, vice president of strategic effectiveness and advancement for Waukesha County Technical College and president of WACTE.She is As an economic and workforce development instructor. or for Moraine Park, Wilke provides customized training and other services to businesses, local governments, organizations and individuals in the areas of human performance, leadership, customer service, quality improvement, team building, conflict resolution and personal/interpersonal communication skills. In one example of the numerous accomplishments outlined in Wilke's nomination, she provided leadership training at a food processing plant for Associates at all levels. Because of the results she achieved, the original short-term initiative became a four-year relationship. Wilke has now trained more than 180 employees in personal, interpersonal and performance leadership at the company's five locations, and the partnership has expanded into other training opportunities for Moraine Park. She will go on to ACTE's national competition, scheduled during a December convention in Las Vegas. "I am humbled and honored to represent Moraine Park and all the other equally deserving career and technical education teachers," said Wilke. "I am proud to be a part of a college that is comprised of a dedicated and caring staff that strives to make a positive difference in the lives of the students, business partners and community at large."
