The Wisconsin Family and Consumer Educators Association Honored Professionals at the 2010 WFCE Excellence Awards
The Plaza Hotel, Eau Claire, WI, August 10th, 2010: The Wisconsin Family and Consumer Educators (WFCE) honored Teachers and Business and Industry partners at the 2010 WFCE Recognition Celebration. The WFCE Dedicated Service Award recognized K-12 Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teachers who have retired from the profession after over 20 years of dedicated service. This year's honoree was Sue Russo-CESA 11 Member from Durand High School. Other members that have retired this past year but were unable to attend include Trude Mihalovich-CESA 1 Member, Bonnie Duchac-CESA 5 Member, Jane Menghini-CESA 5 Member, Sue Schneider-CESA 6 Member, Karen Baalud-CESA 7 Member, and Linda Wussow-CESA 8 Member. The Distinguished FACS Educator Award went to Bernice Pollen from Manitowoc-Wilson Junior High School and Jamie Koehler from Chilton Public Schools. The Distinguished award goes to a licensed FACS teacher who participates in professional growth activities, strengthens or enhances FACS education programs by implementing DPI curriculum guidelines, and works cooperatively and effectively with colleagues. The New Professional Award went to Katie Feuerhelm-CESA 11 Member from New Richmond High School. The New Professional award goes to a licensed FACS teacher who has been teaching for 1-5 years, is dedicated to the profession, and plans to further their education and remain in the Family and Consumer Sciences Education profession. The 2010 Honorary FACS Educator title was bestowed upon Colleen Konicek, Reading Specialist/Headwaters Reading Council President and Bryan Mowry, Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation/ProStart Teacher Educator. This award goes to individuals or groups that have provided a major contribution supporting and promoting FACS Education and advocates views known to have influenced policy affecting FACS Education beyond the local level. WFCE is a Professional Organization for K-12 Family and Consumer Sciences Educators in Wisconsin.
