At the April Chilton School District Board Meeting, the Board reorganization resulted in Paul Meier, Randy Lisowe and Jerry Kolbe maintaining their roles as Board President, Vice President and Treasurer, respectively. Russ Rautmann was elected to serve as Clerk. Meier also made committee assignments as follows: the Building and Grounds Committee will be chaired by Lisowe with Rautmann as a member; the Policy Committee will be chaired by Rautmann with Kolbe as a member; the Co-Curricular Committee will be chaired by Meier with Lisowe as a member; and the Finance Committee will be chaired by Kolbe with Larry Hedrich also participating. Rautmann will continue serving as the CESA-7 representative. The Board agreed to continue to use as District depositories Great Midwest Bank, The State Bank of Chilton, M&I Bank and Community Bank and Trust, and will continue to have the Chilton Times Journal serve as the District newspaper. Debra Hintz thanked Board members for the past 12 years that she shared with them as a member. Meier presented Hintz with a plaque to show the Board’s appreciation for her service to the students, faculty and community of Chilton. Senior Olivia Dedering gave a presentation about her 5-month long field study at Hampton Green Farm in Wellington, Florida, where she was an Assistant Barn Manager working with show horses. Dedering was very appreciative to the Board for allowing her this opportunity to learn and experience many once in a lifetime events. Superintendent Dr. Claire Martin relayed information from Middle School Librarian Sue Salszeider saying that 106 families from Chilton Public, Chilton Area Catholic and Trinity Lutheran Schools signed up for No TV Week. The Board agreed to amend the pool fee recommendation approved at the February meeting, which established an annual fee of $100 per person or $300 per family for non-Chilton residents to use the Chilton Elementary/Middle School swimming pool. The Board approved an amendment that excludes non-district residents who are staff members, so that staff members would not incur a fee to use the pool. Upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, the Board approved the 2009-10 and 2010-11 District calendars. The Board also approved keeping the current vendor Schenck as its auditing firm for the next 3 years. The Board approved adopting PowerSchool as the District’s new Student Information System, as the SASI system currently in use will not be supported after summer 2010. The Board approved a Youth Options Request by a student to take a Certified Nursing Assistant course at Fox Valley Technical College, and a field trip request from the Middle School Safety Patrol students to go to Chicago for two days. Middle School Principal Richard Appel noted that donations from the Lion’s Club help to offset costs of the field trip. The Board approved the resignation of Laura Meyer from Nutrition Services. The Board also changed the June regular Board meeting from the 22nd to the 29th.
