The Kiwanis Club of Chilton has selected Justin M. Juckem, son of Richard and Linda Juckem of Chilton, as the Student of the Month for April. Justin has been an active member of the National Honor Society for the last two years. Through this organization he has been tutoring younger students mainly in their math skills. He has also been a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. He joined the high school band as a freshman and he participated in the Concert Band and Marching Band for 3 years. He competed in Solo Ensemble competition as a freshman and sophomore and earned a first place each year. Justin earned Gold Honor Roll status all 4 years of high school. He was selected as an Alternate for Badger Boys State as a junior. For his church, Good Shepherd Catholic, Justin has served as an usher when scheduled for the past two years. Before that, he was a server since 3rd grade. He was a member of Jesus & Company during his freshman, sophomore, and junior years and with them he was a volunteer at youth masses, helped with cemetery cleanup, and helped with delivery and setup for various church dinners and picnics. His other community activities include being a member of Pine Creek 4-H club for 12 years, being a member of the Relay-4-Life cancer fundraiser for eight years, being a City Band member for a year, and being a volunteer helping to construct the Community Playground last summer. He was a Coach/Volunteer for Youth Football and Youth Basketball for each of the last three years. Justin was a multi-sport letter winner in his sophomore, junior, and senior years in football, basketball, and in track. In track, he earned a Sixth Place in the 4 by 4 at state. This was also a school record. In football, he was selected as an Honorable Mention All-Conference Linebacker as a sophomore and as an All Conference Receiver as a senior. In his spare time, Justin enjoys outdoor recreation, including snowmobiling and riding the ATV. He has received a scholarship to study at North Dakota State University where he plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. |
