The Mishicot Girls basketball team slipped by the Hilbert Wolves by a score of 49-36, in Olympian Conference action on Thursday February 25th.
It was Hilbert's second loss of the week as they lost to Roncalli on Tuesday by a score of 58-40. ![]() In the loss to Mishicot, the Wolves kept pace with the Jets. The game was tied 6-6 after one quarter and Hilbert took a one point advantage, 16-15 into the halftime break. In the third quarter, the Jets really turned it on. Both Megan Cohen and Nicole Meissner had nine points in the third stanza, while leading scorer on the night Krista Kadow chipped in six. They outscored Hilbert 23-9 and never looked back. Leading the Wolves on the night was: Whitney Krueger with nine, Kira Krueger with seven, Whitney Stecker with seven, Val Kasper with five, Ashley Krueger with four, and Trisha Swanson and Hattie Thiel each with two. Mishicot was led by Kadow with 22, followed by Cohen with nine. Hilbert lost their match up earlier in the week to the visiting Roncalli Jets, by a score of 58-40.In this match up Roncalli jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter of play and never really looked back. Even though the Jets were without senior standout Nicole Schrimpf, they seemed to have no problems. Kaylle Suettinger stepped up for Roncalli to lead the Jets with 21 points, and Roncalli had 10 different players score in the victory, including Moriah Mitchell, who chipped in 12. Leading scorers for the Wolves on the night were: Ashley and Whitney Krueger who both had 10 points, followed by Kira Krueger with eight, and Lexie Schaffer with seven. Hilbert finished up their conference season with the loss to Mishicot. Their ending conference record is 2-16. The Wolves will finish up their regular season with a game against non-conference opponent Elkhart Lake on Monday March 1st. Regional action will begin for the girls on Tuesday March 9th as they take on number three seed Lena at Lena in the first round of D-4 regional play . |
