The Brillion Lions girl's basketball team clinched the Olympian Conference title on Tuesday February 23rd with a win against the visiting Reedsville Panthers. Brillion then went on to beat St. Mary Central later in the week to remain perfect in conference play on the season, with only one game remaining.

In the victory over the visiting Zephyrs, the Lions jumped out to a 17-10 lead after one quarter of play, but really stepped up their intensity in the second quarter.  Brillion outscored the SMC in that second quarter of play, 18-6 to take a commanding lead and never looking back, beating the Zephyrs by a score of 58-31.

"We did a great job of forcing them into tough shots and limiting them to one (shot)," Brillion coach Ryan O'Leary said. "Our rebounding was outstanding, especially in the second half."

The Lions were led in scoring in the game by the efforts of Shawna Levash who led Brillion with 13, followed by Tiffany Janke with 12, Jennifer Eickert with nine, Tori Ruffing with seven, Brooke Geiger and Alyssa Olp both with six, and Marcy Popp chipped in four.
In their conference clinching victory, Brillion defeated the visiting Reedsville Panthers by a score of 52-33.

Reedsville only trailed that Lions 23-21 at the halftime break, but Brillion came out in the third quarter with a vengeance, outscoring the Panthers 20-7 in that third stanza of play.  "I thought we really picked up our intensity coming out of the locker room at half and that was the difference in the game," Brillion coach Ryan O'Leary said. "Creating turnovers and pushing the ball up the floor allowed us some easy baskets in the third quarter and also got us to the free throw line."

Leading the way in scoring for the Lions in the victory over Reedsville was:  Levash and Olp who each had 13 points on the night, followed by Janke with nine, Geiger with seven, Ruffing with five, and Eickert and Kylie Moxley both with two.

The Lions who have a perfect record in conference play thus far, are set to finish up their regular with a game against Valders on Friday March 5th at home.  Brillion then heads to the post season as a number one seed, where they are set to take on the number eight seed Shiocton at home, in their first round of regional play on Tuesday March 9.
