Youth interested in playing baseball this summer will likely have more opportunities this summer after the city decided to have one league for the city of Chilton. “More advantages to our children come from the Eastshore League,” Recreation Director Jeff Schwarz explained at the last city council meeting. Schwarz said that after talking with Coach Scott Fritz at Chilton High School, Fritz said he would like to see players have more knowledge about baseball. The new league will give coaches more time to practice and more games to compete against other teams with. Instead of an Athletic Club league and a City of Chilton Recreation Department league, there will be one recreation department league that is part of the Eastshore League, Schwarz said. Youth will be on teams based on their grade: Kindergarten, 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8, and 9 through 11. Uniforms, coaches and umpires will be chosen by the Chilton Recreation Department. |
