The New Holstein boy's basketball team saw their season come to a close in heartbreaking fashion as they lost their regional semifinal game to the Valders Vikings in triple overtime by a score of 78-77 on Thursday, March 4th at Valders.

The Huskies overcame an eight point halftime deficit to tie the game at 50-50 by the end of the third quarter.  They then went on to lead the game by as many as four points in the final stanza, but the Vikings were not taking no for an answer.  Valders Derek Buck tied the game at 58 with a pair of free throws, which was followed by a Derek Madson blocked shot.  The Vikings then went up by three on a Drew Binversie put back, followed by a successful free throw attempt.  New Holstein's Chris Lefeber hit a buzzer beating three pointer to tie the game at 61 and sending it into overtime.

The Huskies had many opportunities in the three ensuing overtime periods to come away with the victory but every time New Holstein seemed to be within reach, Valders answered right back, and Valders finally came away with the victory.

New Holstein was led in scoring on the night by Charlie Cash with 17, followed by Tyler Zipperer with 16, Sam Cash with 14, Justin Schneider with 12, Chris Lefeber with 11, and Erik Hansen with seven.

In the match up New Holstein jumped out to a commanding 20 point lead after one quarter of play.  The Raiders battled back and were able to cut the lead to 10 in the second half, but that would be as close as they would come, and New Holstein would roll to the win.
The Huskies were led into victory by the scoring efforts of Zipperer and Charlie Cash, who both finished the night with 18 points including two three-pointers each.  Sam Cash chipped in 13 points on the night, while Lefeber and Hansen both added five.
New Holstein finished their season with a 11-10 record following Thursday's loss to Valders.  Congratulations on a great season Huskies!
