After a slow start in the Chilton Tigers regular season closer, Ray Mlada's Tigers kicked it into gear to come away with a convincing 52-36 victory for their senior night and parents night festivities. The Zephyrs jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter of play due to the hot shooting of Megan Minor who scored all of St. Mary Central's first quarter points. St. Mary Central watched their lead diminish, as Chilton came roaring back. They out scored the Zephyrs in remaining three quarters of play, 16-8, 14-4, and 15-10 to come away with the win. Chilton was led in scoring on the evening by Michelle Piepenburg with 19, followed by Brittany Mirsberger with 14, Kelynn Sporer with 10, and Emily Maurer with seven. The Zephyrs Minor led all-scorers on the night with 22, followed by Leisa Conn with four, and Sammie Hawkins and Mary Porter both with three. With the victory over the Zephyrs, Chilton finishes regular season third in the Olympian Conference with a 13-5 record, behind both Brillion and Roncalli. Chilton, a number one seed in their regional, earned a bye in the first round of WIAA Division 2 regional play. The Tigers, who are 16-6 overall, are set to play their first game in the post season on Thursday March 11th, as they take on the winner of the Two Rivers/Fox Valley Lutheran game in Chilton. |
