The Hilbert Wolves football team picked up a loss on Friday night as they took on the Roncalli Jets in a 21-6 losing efforts.
Hilbert who opened their season with a convincing 59-0 win over St. Mary Central, were stifled by the Jets, who held the Wolves offense to just 67 yards. In the game Roncalli scored a touchdown in the first three quarters of play. Hilbert's lone score of the evening came in the second quarter when a Roncalli set up to punt and the snap sailed over the holder, Ben Stelzer's head, and rolled to the Jets one yard line. Stelzer fell on the ball giving Hilbert excellent field position. This set up the Wolves Spencer Schulz, to run it in for the score on third and goal from the two yard line. Leading rushers on the evening for Hilbert were: Schulz 17 for 23, Marcus Kopecky 10 for 18, Levi Cummings six for 15, and Connor Nett four for eight. Leading receivers for Hilbert were: Preston Schwalenburg one catch for nine yards. Hilbert is set to take on non- conference opponent Green Bay New Lutheran on Friday September 10th at home. |
