New Holstein's Cash Leads Huskies Past Chilton PDF Print E-mail

At Chilton, New Holstein's Sam Cash, led the visiting Huskies to the big win, as he rushed for 112 yards and threw for 102 yards, to lead New Holstein to a 27-6 non-conference victory.

The Tigers never really gave up. They continued to battle hard despite falling behind early in the game. New Holstein jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 21-0 at the halftime break.

The Huskies first score came on their first possession of the game, on a 36 yard catch by Erik Hansen from quarterback Cade Lefeber. Then in the second quarter, junior quarterback Cash, hit Hansen for a 41 yard pass which led to a seven yard touchdown by Jordan Lefeber. Cash played quarterback in the second and fourth quarters while Lefeber played in the first and third quarters. Also in that second quarter was a touchdown run by Cody Thede for 43 yards, followed up by a Thede two point conversion.

Chilton would score their only touchdown of the game late in the third quarter when quarterback Lucas Hemauer hit Austin Hephner with a 21 yard pass for the score.

New Holstein would finish out the scoring on the night, in the fourth quarter when Cash scampered down the side line 57 yards for the touchdown.

The Huskies out ran the Tigers 393-141. Leading rushers on the night were: Chilton-Stuart Degeneffe 13 carries for 43 yards, Hephner eight for 15, and Tim Schoenborn three carries for 12 yards. New Holstein-Birschbach seven carries for 28 yards, Cash six for 112 yards, Mitchell Freund eight for 26 yards, Morgan Freund five for 28, and Thede five for nine yards.

Leading receivers on the night were: Chilton-Degeneffe two for 19, Hephner three for 46, and Propson one for four. New Holstein-Birschbach three for 45, Boettcher one for 27, Boris one for six, Hansen two for 78, Thede two for 17.
Chilton is set to take on Wrightstown on Friday September 10th at home for their first conference game of the season. The Tigers are still searching for their first victory of the season.
