The Brillion Lions football team picked up their second win of the season against Manitowoc Lutheran on Friday September 3rd, pummeling the Lancers by a score of 55-6.
In the match up, the Lions were able to capitalize early on some good field position. This in addition to Brillion's defense running to the ball very well and not allowing Lutheran to get their offense off the ground helped the Lions to the victory. Brillion also ran the ball on the night very well racking up 451 rushing yards compared to the Lancers 154. Leading rushers on the night in the game were: Brillion-Eric Kittel with 93 yards on three carries, Brandon Pribbernow one carry for 95 yards, Justin Zeamer five carries for 62 yards, Tanner Behnke three carries for 28 yards, and Evan Meulemans 84 yards on 14 carries. Manitowoc Lutheran-Jacob Luebke 61 yards on 11 carries. The Lions scored eight times on the night by eight different players. The first score of the night came in the first quarter on a Levi Krizenesky 39 yards reception from quarterback Will Jensen. Brillion scored again in that first quarter on a 24 yard Behnke run. They would score another three times in the second stanza of play, first on an Meulemans three yard run, then on a Zeamer 21 yard run, and lastly on a Brian Krueger 16 yard reception from Jensen, giving the Lions a 34-0 lead heading into the second half. In the third quarter the Lions would get scores from Mike Van Thiel on a four yard scamper and Blake Klessig one a one yard dash. Then in the final stanza of the game, Kittel would break free from the line and go 82 yards for Brillion's final score of the night. Lions kicker Matt Van Druten went five of six in extra point attempts, while Zach Eichorst was two for two. Manitowoc Lutheran would score once in the final quarter of the game on a Luebke six yard run, but it was too little to late. Leading receivers in the game were: Brillion-Krizenesky one catch for 39 yards and Krueger one catch for 16 yards. Lutheran-Molenhauer one catch for 16 yards. The Lions now 2-0 on the season overall, are set to take on Reedsville at home on Friday September 10th. |
