The 6-4 Hilbert girl's basketball team failed to extend its two-game winning streak as the Wrightstown Tigers sunk the Wolves 45-27 on Jan. 6.
Wrightstown's defense troubled Hilbert, holding the Wolves to five points in the first quarter and 14 in the entire first half. The Tigers took advantage of its strong defense by grabbing a first half lead and scoring 16 points in the third quarter to head in to the fourth quarter with a 16 point lead. The Wrightstown defense also held all the Hilbert players to under six points. The leading scorers for Hilbert were Taylor Wiese and Carlie Lau each with five points. Jenny Sticka and Erica Gehl each tacked on four points as well. Wrenn Tanck led Wrightstown with 16 points ahead of teammate Brianna Linzmeier with 11 points. Courtney Klister also added eight points. Hilbert will look to pick up another win on Jan. 17 when the Wolves take on the Roncalli Jets in Roncalli at 7:30 p.m. The Jets are 7-2 on the season, but Roncalli is coming off a 51-44 loss to the Brillion Lions. Last season Roncalli swept Hilbert in both games by scores of 45-26 and 58-34. |
