Two more wins over Olympian Conferecne members Wrightstown and Valders put the Brillion Lions at 12-2 on the season.

Early in the week, on Jan. 24, the Lions took on the Valders Vikings in Valders. Brillion was trailing after the first quarter but after a strong defensive second quarter for the Lions, Brillion took the lead and kept it throughout the game. Head coach Pete Kittel praised the defensive play after the first quarter.

"Our defense really stepped up in the second and third quarter in this game," he said.

To go along with the defensive play, Eric Kittel's hot shooting from beyond the three-point line sent the Lions into the lead in the first half. Eric Kittel grabbed 14 points, including four three-pointers, in the first half of play.

In the second half Brilion kept rolling as Trevor Krizenesky tallied 11 second half points. Both Kittel and Krizenesky finished with 16 points. Blake Klessig added 10 points, five assists and six rebounds.

The latest game for Brillion was an away matchup against Wrightstown on Jan. 28. The Tigers were one of the two teams to give Brillion a loss this season.

Brillion set out for revenge, winning by a score of 63-48. Brillion came out playing tough defense, allowing only six first quarter points for Wrightstown.
"Our defensive intensity was very good throughout this game," Kittel said.

That defense allowed zero Wrightstown players to finish in doulbe-digit scoring. The top scorers for the Tigers were Jordan Johnson and Jon Braeger with nine points each. Brillion's points came off consistent shooting by the Lions, hitting nearly 47 percent of their field goals, compared to Wrightstown's 33 percent.

Ryan Reinke led the Lions with 17 points, followed by Klessig with 16. Krizenesky added 14 points while Jordan Mathiebe also had seven points. Klessig and Mike Van Thiel led the Lions in rebounding as both grabbed seven boards. Reinke snagged six rebounds as well. Brillion outrebounded Wrightstown by nine rebounds.

The next test for Brillion wil be on Feb. 2 when the Lions take on conference rivals Chilton Tigers. The game wil be held in Brillion at 7:30 p.m. Brillion defeated Chilton 52-37 earlier in the season. Currently the Tigers are on a three-game winning streak, and the Lions are on a five-game winning streak.
